Bursting with excitement for the arrival of War Horse in Louisville? The Tony Award-winning play will open at the Kentucky Center on November 19, but you can get together with friends beforehand to talk and enjoy a great meal.
On November 4, PNC Broadway in Louisville and Four Roses Bourbon will host Bourbon and Broadway, a four-course dinner at Louisville eatery Bourbons Bistro. Everyone taking part in the $55 dinner will be entered for a chance to win two tickets to War Horse’s opening night performance.
War Horse is the story of young Albert’s beloved horse, Joey, who has been enlisted to fight for the English in World War I. Despite not being of age to enlist, Albert embarks on a dangerous mission to find his horse and bring him home. The story is told using elaborate, life-size puppets created by the Handspring Puppet Company.
Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse won five Tonys in 2010, including Best Play. In 2011, Steven Spielberg directed a big screen version of the story, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Tickets are now on sale for War Horse at the Kentucky Center, which will run through November 24.
